What is Mobility Training?

Overview:

Mobility training combines exercises that increase the range of motion, stabilization and control within your joints and surrounding muscles. Mobility movements prioritize flexibility, balance & strength. The great thing about mobility training is how easily it can be added pre or post movement routine.

Mobility vs. Flexibility:

Even though mobility & flexibility are thought to be the same thing, they in fact are not. Mobility is the ability of a joint to move actively through a range of motion (think yoga flow). Flexibility is the ability of a muscle to lengthen passively through a range of motion (think holding a stretch).

Benefits:

  • Promotes healthy posture

  • Helps build stronger, more adaptive joints & muscles

  • Increases range of motion

  • Improves functional fitness performance

  • Prevents aches & pains

  • Improve body awareness

Takeaway:

The benefits of mobility training are endless. If you are looking to achieve peak functioning levels, try to incorporate mobility movements into your daily routine. Remember to always listen to your body by starting slow then gradually building up to what your body can handle. Don’t you want to lift heavier, run faster, jump higher, squat lower and feel good while doing it?
